KARNES COUNTY – In an annual south Texas tradition that has spanned the past 55 years, the South Texas Trail Riders braved frigid conditions on their journey from Edroy to San Antonio for the 65th Annual Stock Show and Rodeo.

The group left Edroy on Friday, Jan. 31 and passed through Tynan, Beeville and Pettus before crossing the Karnes County line around midday Monday, Feb. 3. They plan to continue riding north for five more days before arriving in San Antonio.

While in Karnes County, the riders enjoyed lunch at the Waylon Rouse Ranch sponsored by Barth’s Restaurant and the Kenedy Chamber of Commerce. They stayed overnight at the Karnes County Youth Show Barn grounds with supper compliments of Rathole Drilling, Siboney-Thomas Hall. Tuesday the group had lunch in Karnes City and continued on to Falls City where they have plans for supper and a dance. Wednesday morning they plan to cross into Wilson County on their way up the “trail.”

The group “keeps the cowboy tradition alive” through their annual ride and activities.
