GOLIAD – Ashford Taylor was approved as the new city attorney by the Goliad City Council at its Jan. 21 meeting.

Taylor, 29, works for the law offices of Steven G. Paulsgrove in Goliad and graduated from the South Texas College of Law in 2012.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to help serve the community that raised me,” said Taylor, who attended Goliad High School through 11th grade.

Taylor replaces Terry Baiamonte, who resigned from the position in December.

Also at the Jan. 21 meeting, council heard from Texas Department of Transportation representatives about the possibility of moving the school zone on Pearl Street from the

intersection of Washington Street to the intersection of Mt. Auburn Street.

Council also promoted Shawn Gaskamp from interim public works director to permanent public works director.
