On Nov. 12, Refugio County sheriff’s deputies arrested Abbate at Valero truck stop in Refugio.
The Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Unit was assisting the Woodsboro Police Department in the apprehension of the suspect since October 2013 when a warrant was issued for Indecency with a Child.
The warrant was issued by Woodsboro Magistrate Diego Bustillo.
The Woodsboro Police Department received a report that the suspect had molested a 9-year-old female in the Woodsboro area.
After the investigation, it was determined Abbate was a suspect in the molestation of the 9-year-old female and a warrant was requested.
The Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Unit had tracked the suspect to several residences in Aransas County, but he had managed to elude law enforcement officers.
The suspect then left to the Waco area.
But then the suspect was spotted by Refugio County Sheriff’s deputies at the Valero truck stop on Nov. 12, and he was subsequently arrested on the charge.
Follow up on his whereabouts revealed that he had been in town to report to his bondsman.
Abbate had previously been arrested on Oct. 2 in connection with a Theft of Service charge of at least $1,500 but less than $20,000, of which the Major Crimes Unit had investigated and arrested the suspect.
The Theft of Service case was for misusing a company cell phone, which he used to make calls to the Virgin Islands and Great Britain for online sex enjoyment.
