Goliad sales tax income drops sizably in 2013

GOLIAD – Sales tax revenues for Goliad County decreased by over 25 percent for December compared to the same period a year ago.

Overall, sales tax rebates for Goliad County in 2013 were down 6.68 percent from 2012. Goliad County received $369,004.80 in 2013 compared to $395,455.85 in 2012.

Goliad County received $25,279.94 in December, which is a 25.42 percent decrease from the $33,900.85 received in December 2012.

All but one neighboring county saw increases in tax receipts for 2013.

Karnes County took in $3,216,462.79 in 2013 for a 26.54 percent increase. Refugio County received $1,023,343.83 in rebates for a 4.22 percent increase.

DeWitt County took in $3,601,366.06 for an 18.26 percent increase while Victoria County collected $25,746,700.37 for a 2.94 percent decrease and Bee County received $4,363,268.38 for a 3.37 percent increase.
