BERCLAIR – Two Victoria adult males were killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59 near Berclair on Friday afternoon.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety personnel on the scene, a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV crossed the center stripe on the two-lane highway just east of the Blanco Creek bridge, approximately a half mile west of Berclair and struck a Meridian motorhome towing another vehicle head-on.

The driver, 58-year-old Stanley Parry, and the passenger, a 46-year-old Brett Morgan, were both pronounced dead at the scene by Goliad County Justice of the Peace Susan Moore.

The wreck occurred at approximately 2:43 p.m.

The driver of the motor home, 65-year-old Steven Cornelius of Sioux Falls, S.D., was transported by Goliad County EMS to Spohn Hospital in Beeville. His wife, 46-year-old Julia Cornelius, was a passenger in the motorhome and did not sustain serious injuries.

A portion of Highway 59 surrounding the scene was closed at 2:45 p.m. and didn't re-open for traffic until 8 p.m.
