Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for a number of thefts of tools from the Swickheimer Ranch over the past 10 months.

Since December 2012, the manager of the ranch south of Fannin has reported a series of incidents in which tools have been taken from a storage unit located adjacent to his residence. The value of the stolen tools is estimated at almost $16,000.

In every case, the suspect or suspects have entered a locked pod-style storage unit and removed a large quantity of tools, ranging from impact wrenches and drills to socket sets and shop fans. There has been no forced entry into the locked storage unit, suggesting the suspects have access to the key. Also, the nature of the stolen property coupled with the multiple occurrences leads investigators to believe someone familiar with ranch operations could be involved.

In addition to the thefts, on one occasion a ranch truck was taken from near the ranch manager’s residence and later found abandoned in a pasture on the ranch.

Those having any information about this crime can call Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers at 361-362-0206 or 1-877-362-0206.

All calls are anonymous and a cash reward of up to $1,000 is available.
