CORPUS CHRISTI – The Lady Trojan varsity volleyball team gained some experience over the weekend at the annual CC Spikefest and picked up a few wins on Saturday at the tournament after a tough round of pool play on Friday.

In their first outings, the Beeville girls lost to Dickinson (a tournament championship bracket semifinalist) in straight sets. Then the Ray Lady Texans defeated the Lady Trojans 25-3 and 25-7. The Taft Greyhounds dealt the Beeville girls a 25-6 and a 25-10 match loss.

In the first round of the tournament brackets, the Lady Trojans were edged by the Lady Bears from West Oso, 25-20 and 25-22. The Beeville varsity girls seemed to have found their offense a little in the West Oso contest and carried it over to Saturday’s bracket round to pick up a few victories.

The Lady Trojans, in the consolation bracket, defeated Miller, 25-22 and 25-15, and also won against Rio Grande City LaGrulla. The Beeville girls picked up the first set of their match with Aransas Pass by the score of 26-24 before the Lady Panthers rebounded to edge them 25-22 and 25-13 over the next two sets to earn the best two out of three tournament win.

The Lady Trojans hosted Orange Grove on Tuesday night. The Beeville girls will be in Sinton this weekend, competing in the Lady Pirates’ tourney.
