On Wednesday, we welcomed members of the victorious Team Everyone Else to a party celebrating their triumph in Throwdown 2.0.

Team Everyone Else read 16,278 pages to defeat me by a paltry 19 pages. Three different readers read more than 3,400 pages and two of them topped 4,000 pages. In fact, only 20 pages separated our top two readers.

All of the members of Team Everyone Else received an official Runge Public Library tote containing personalized postcards, a lovely metal bookmark engraved with “Team Everyone Else,” a personalized “Reading is for awesome people” button, and a set of Scrabble Fridge Magnets.

Our prize for Most Pages Read went to Silas Olveda, who read 4,198 pages. Silas took home a brand new Kindle Fire for that awesome effort. Congratulations, Silas! Way to go!

As for me, I retreat to lick my wounds and to start planning for next year's Throwdown. If you've got any ideas on how to make the Throwdown even bigger and better next year, stop by the Runge Public Library (or drop by our Facebook page) and let us know.
