BEEVILLE – This year, Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville Volunteers were able to award six college scholarships to local youth.

The $2,000 scholarships were awarded based upon applications, interviews and need. The volunteers offer the scholarships to assist local students reach their career goals in the medical field.

All applicants had to have been accepted by the Coastal Bend College nursing or radiology programs.

Those receiving the scholarships are: Brianna Danielle Rios, student of the nursing program; and Kimberly Stillman, Mallory Morales, Irene Moreno, Adam Mercer and Mona Krishan, all students in radiological technology programs.

The volunteers man the gift shop/ snack bar at the hospital, as well as volunteer in other specialized areas of the hospital. Earnings from the shop, along with the special fundraisers and donations create money for donations to the hospital and the scholarship program.
