Daryl William Drees, 49, of Palestine died Friday, June 28, 2013 in Palestine, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Mr. Drees was born January 28, 1964 in Sinton to Ernest Drees and Doris Wilkerson. He had many hobbies but the one thing he loved to do the most was fishing. He was employed at a deli clerk at Brookeshires in Palestine. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buffalo.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Lee Drees of Palesitine, sons, David Lee Drees and Jeremy William (Johne) Drees; granddaughter, Jo Leigh and daughter, Shelby Dean Drees of Palestine; parents, Ernest and Anzelma Drees of Falls City; brothers, Larrell (Kay) Drees of Palestine, Mike (Regina) Drees of Wimberley, and Randy (Christie) Drees of Ark.; step-brothers, Donnie Wilkerson of Ark., Alan Pawelek and Gary (Joyce) Pawelek both of Falls City; sisters, Susan Wilkerson (James) Burk of Ark., Jeanette (Leo, Jr.) Lyssy, Yvette (Thomas, Jr.) Kowalik, both of Falls City, and Michelle (Leroy) Titzman of La Vernia; 10 nieces and three nephews; uncle, Robert Drees; aunts, Marjorie Pierce and Sherry (Ken) Walker; along with numerous cousins.

Mr. Drees was preceded in death by his mother Doris Wilkerson, step-father Kenneth Wilkerson, his grandparents Andrew and Mary (Stiba) Drees and step-sister Jacqueline Marie Pawelek.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 4 at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5 at Rhodes Funeral Home with Rev. Dwayne Burrell officiating. Interment followed in the Hobson Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Drees, Jermey Drees, Chris Smith, Thomas Evans, Alan Pawelek and Gary Pawelek. Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Drees, Mike Drees, Larrell Drees and Terry Skaines.

Memorial may be sent to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, Texas 75701. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home.
