On June 25, The Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and the San Antonio Area Foundation in conjunction with local community leaders, including Judge Jim Huff, Commissioner Donna Mills, Judge Jim Teal and the Atascosa Health Care Center, presented the opening workshop for Me-Them/Now-Then: A Live Oak County Conversation.

The workshop was an overview of four workshops to follow, including financial planning, estate planning, tax planning/charitable giving and legacy planning. All are designed to impart useful information to people who may not have needed it before or know that they did.

The first of the continuing workshops is financial planning and will take place Tuesday, July 30, at the Ray Point Community Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a light meal and refreshments served. The guest speakers will be Dan Prostrollo from Lincoln Financial Securities, whose topic will be “Creating a Lasting Retirement Income.” He will talk about the need for sustainable retirement income, retirement income considerations, and a new approach for a sustainable income. Guest speaker Barbara Magor with American Investment Planners will speak on building a financial foundation highlighting her six-step solution including establishing goals, evaluating your financial status and developing and implementing the appropriate financial plan for your family.

All who wish to attend should RSVP to Kate Martin at the Atascosa Healthcare Center, 830-569-8940, ext. 327 or email kmartin.achc@tachc.org to be sure there are adequate materials and food. Everyone is welcome.
