GHS students fared well in mathematics with 73 percent passing Algebra I, 100 percent passing Algebra II and 96 percent passing geometry testing.
GHS students did not test well in writing, grading out at 55 percent in English I and 45 percent in English II.
“The writing part of it really brought the scores down,” Paulsgrove said. “The scores in the state in writing were also very low.”
The state average for writing was 54.3 percent in English I and 52.7 percent in English II.
GHS students graded out at 56 percent in Reading I, 67 percent in Reading II, 72 percent in World Geography, 66 percent in World History, 81 percent in Biology and 76 percent in chemistry.
“The test is so new and with every test usually when you take it at first your scores are not what you want them to be,” Paulsgrove said. “You have to work toward that goal and when you reach that goal the state makes a new test and you start all over again.”
