During Monday’s meeting, County Judge David Bowman said the Keetch-Byram drought index was at 496 and the 14-day forecast doesn’t predict it to diminish by July 4. A drought index of 500 or higher is considered high risk.
In other action Monday, commissioners unanimously approved a reduced speed limit of 35 mph on West Air Base Road.
The court also unanimously approved a rural transit grant application for federal and state funding through the Texas Department of Transportation and a lease agreement with the Golden Crescent Workforce development board.
Commissioners also unanimously approved a request for proposals for auditing firms for the 2013 fiscal year.
