Beeville – This Sunday, Dr. Gary Williams will kick off Faith Lutheran’s 4th annual Summer Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. This is the third time in four years that Dr. Williams has performed at one of the summer concerts.

Many people in the area know Dr. Williams through his veterinarian practice; however, he is also a talented singer and guitar player. His laid-back style is often compared to the late John Denver, and is always a big hit with the audience.

This will be the fourth consecutive summer that Faith Lutheran Church has brought local gospel groups and performers to the community through the free summer concert series.

Faith Lutheran Church has a long tradition of hosting ecumenical concerts in the community, since it has hosted the Advent Music Festival for the past 35 years. Concert coordinator Jim Stevenson said, “With our history of hosting the Advent Music Festival, several years ago our worship committee decided it would be a natural fit to bring summer gospel concerts to the community. The idea of summer outdoor informal concerts just seemed to be a good idea, and we decided that the groups would be local or semi-local musicians or groups.”

Everyone is invited to come out and see Williams at the concert on Sunday evening. You may bring your own lawn chairs or use one of the church’s folding chairs. You may bring soft drinks, but free bottled water will be available for everyone. Past concert-goers report that the location provides cool evening breezes, and it has been pleasant at every single concert, even the ones in July and August.

The summer concerts will be held on the second Sunday of the Month from June through September. All concerts will be held on the newly built outdoor stage on the east side of the church, 1500 E. FM Road 351.
