Record books are due Friday, June 7 and will be completed online again this year.

At the end of the year, the books will still be printed out and turned in as usual. The earlier members start their record books, the easier it will be to complete.

The online setup is made to be used year round.

Members can go online now, create their accounts or log into their previous account and begin on their own.

The website is http://4hreports.com/index.aspx.

Members who showed an animal in the 2013 Goliad County Fair must turn in a record book to be eligible to show again in 2014.

Members can go to the Texas 4 website at http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/youth_recordbooks to view powerpoints, view the guide, etc.

Steer validation

The major show steer validation will be June 25 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Goliad Animal Clinic.

The validation will also ensure project eligibility in the 2014 GCFA. The 4-H Club would like to thank Dr. and Deborah Gamblin for the use of their facilities.

Turkey order June 19

For those interested in exhibiting turkeys at the 2014 GCFA or in San Antonio, the deadline to order birds will be June 19.

The pickup date will most likely be in the first week of November. The cost of this year’s poults is $3.50/bird.

Orders must be in lots of 25. When splitting an order, members will only be able to receive 12 or 13.  Orders must be made as a county group.

No individual orders may be made and no other turkeys may be shown at the GCFA.  For information phone the county extension office or Kay Walker, the GCFA Turkey Chair.

Essays due June 7

Award forms, trip forms and royalty essays are due Friday, June 7.

For information, refer to 4-H newsletter that was emailed to members on May 3 or call the county extension office.

Copies of the forms are available at the county extension office.
