Mr. Britt was born Jan. 26, 1930, in Beeville to Columbus Anderson Britt and Mae Bell Holton. He married Edith Walker in Beeville on April 3, 1954, and served in the United States Army for 26 years. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was awarded a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was also an active member of his church where he received Christ as his Savior at the age of 28. Through the years, he served in various ministries, from teaching children’s church and a teen class to helping to build and construct the church building, serving as treasurer and usher and helping to support missions.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Edith (Walker) Britt; three daughters, Diana Page, Jamie Dies and Brenda Horn; a brother, Frank Britt; seven grandchildren, Kristy Chavez, Brittni Page, Morgan Page, Eevan Duke, Nathan Duke, Kenna Dies and Taylor Dies; and three great-grandchildren.
A viewing was held Sunday evening, June 9, at the Oak Park Memorial Funeral Chapel from 4 to 6 p.m.
A celebration of his life was held at Beeville Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, followed by a graveside service at the San Domingo Cemetery in Normanna.
Pallbearers were John Goza Jr., Kenny Walker, Bobby Walker, Ray Horn, Nathan Duke and Bruce Page.
Honorary pallbearer was Brody Page.
