Goliad ISD will offer summer sports camps beginning June 3.

On June 3-5, basketball camps will be offered for boys and girls at the GHS gym.

The basketball camp for boys in Grades 2-6 will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. each day and the camp for boys in Grades 7-9 will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

The basketball camp for girls in Grades 2-6 will from 8 to 9:30 a.m. each day and the camp for girls in Grades 7-9 will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

The campers will be taught offensive and defensive fundamentals. Special attention will be paid to shooting technique, offensive moves, dribble moves and passing.

Each day there will be a contest to test the campers while providing a fun atmosphere of competition.

Recommended attire is basketball shoes, shorts and a T-shirt.

A volleyball camp for girls will be offered June 12-13 at the GHS gym and a tennis camp for boys and girls will be offered June 25-27 at the GHS tennis courts.

The volleyball camp will be from 9 to 10 a.m. for Grades 2-6 and 10 a.m. to noon for Grades 7-9. The camp is designed to enhance the athlete’s level of completive volleyball skills. Campers will be taught the fundamental aspects of the game including passing, setting, spiking, blocking and serving.

The key aspect of transition, position specific responsibilities and team interaction will be focused on in group drills and team competition.

Recommended attire are athletic shorts, T-shirt and knee pads.

The tennis camp will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for Grades 2-6 and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for Grades 7-9.

Campers are asked to bring rackets and water bottles and wear athletic shoes, shorts and a T-shirt.

A baseball camp for boys will be held July 8-9 at the GHS baseball field and a softball camp for girls will be offered July 11-12 at the GHS softball field.

The baseball camp will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. both days.

The campers will be taught the fundamentals of the game. Campers will practice their swing and hitting technique, fielding ground and fly balls, base running and more.

Campers are recommended to wear a cap/visor, athletic shoes/socks and shorts and bring their gloves, bats and drinking water.

The softball camp will be from 9 to 11 a.m. both days. Campers will be taught the fundamentals of the game. Campers will practice their swing and hitting technique, fielding ground and fly balls, base running and more.

The football camp will be held July 22-23 at Tiger Stadium.

The football camp will be from 9 to 11 a.m. each day. Campers will receive instruction in all aspects of football including passing, rushing, receiving, line play, blocking and basic techniques of defensive play.

Fundamentals and techniques of each position are taught and practiced in each session.

The coaching staff will also place emphasis on self-discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and the rules of the game.

Campers are recommended to wear cleats, T-shirt, shorts, socks (with an extra pair) and sunscreen.
