Teodoro Alvarez, Sr., 89, of Kenedy, died Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Bluebonnet Nursing and Rehab Center in Karnes City.

Mr. Alvarez was born April 8, 1924 in Karnes City to Simon Alvarez and Adela Muniz Alvarez.

Survivors include his wife Lillie Janssen Alvarez of Kenedy; his daughters, Frances (Soilo) Alvear of League City and Oralia (Benito) Moreno of Missouri City; his sons, Alfredo (Adelfa) Alvarez, Sr., of Pawnee, Ernesto (Veronica) Alvarez of Floresville and Teodoro Alvarez, Jr., of Kenedy; his sisters, Minnie Horton and Ester Casanova, both of Kenedy; his 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Alvarez is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Onesimo Alvarez and his sisters, Manuela Salas and Teresa Lara.

Visitation was held Monday, April 29 in the Eckols Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary recited that evening at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Leon Rubaj officiating. Interment followed in the Loma Alta Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were, Richard Alvarez, Eric Alvarez, Alfredo Alvarez, Jr., Jason Alvarez, Patrick Almendraez and Henry Janssen.
