4-H Shooting Club to host 7th annual fishing tournament

On Saturday, May 4, the Bee County 4-H Shooting Sports Club will hold its seventh annual bass fishing tournament at the Choke Canyon Calliham Unit.

Registration, check in and live well check will begin at 6 a.m. or when park opens and will end at 9 a.m. Weigh-in begins at 2 p.m., and anglers must be in line by 3 p.m. to have fish weighed. Cost for the tournament is $100 per team for preregistration. Preregistration will end on Monday, April 29. Late entry fee is $125 per team after April 29 and up until the day of the tournament.

For those interested, there will also be an optional $10 fee per angler for the “big fish pot” that provides a 100% payback. With each entry a meal is included. Prizes are: 1st place – $2,000, 2nd place – $1,000, 3rd place – $500, 4th place – $250, and 5th place – $125. Prize payouts are based on minimum of 75 teams entered. If less than 75 teams are entered, there will be a 50-50 split between winning anglers and the Bee County 4-H Shooting Sports Club.

Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Bee County 4-H Shooting Sports Club to purchase new rifles and equipment and for the building fund which supports the youth of Bee and surrounding counties and to further the cause of shooting sports and wildlife conservation in the State of Texas. There is no charge for club membership and support for the program is entirely from 4-H fund raising and with assistance from sponsors and donors.
