CALALLEN – The Wildcats baseball team is well known in the area and the state as one of the best teams around in 4A. The Trojans aspire to be at that same level, but aren’t quite there as of yet. The Wildcats posted an easy 17-0, five-inning victory over the Beeville boys on Friday night.

Calallen pitching allowed just three Beeville hits with Clay Blackwell picking up two (one double) of those while Marcos Ulloa stroked the other Trojan base hit.

The Wildcats erupted for nine second inning runs to help coast to the win. Two runs in the third and six more in the fourth was plenty to win by the 10-run rule. The Calallen power was on display all night as the Wildcats belted four round-trippers in the contest. Calallen had a total of 17 hits on the evening.

The Trojans play their final game of the season on Friday when they host the Tuloso-Midway Warriors at 7 p.m. at Joe Hunter Field.
