According to information from DPS, it was about midnight when a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Oscar Preciado-Nuno, 36, of Van Buren, Arkansas, was travelling too fast causing the vehicle to roll over several times, sliding through the intersection on a loose gravel road at a location about 10 miles southwest of Kenedy near the intersection of State Highway 72 and County Road 179.
Steven Corum, 26, of San Antonio, who was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle died as a result of injuries caused when the roof caved in.
Adan Rangel, 42, of Kilgore, was a passenger in the back seat and was seriously injured in the crash.
Preciado-Nuno was treated for minor injuries and later was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
Police said all three men were oilfield workers returning to the work site at the time of the crash.
The case remains under investigation.
