PETTUS – The Lady Eagle varsity softball squad ran into one of its top district contenders on Thursday evening and the Falls City Beaverettes had the pitching and hitting to stop the Pettus girls 15-0 in five innings.

“We have to do a better job of making contact at the plate and force them to make plays. We’ve been playing good defense, but tonight we committed too many errors,” said Pettus head coach Anthony Ramirez.

“I know we’ll work hard this week to get better and to be prepared for Woodsboro Friday.”

Only three Lady Eagles were base runners in the contest. Hana Kruger reached twice on Falls City errors and Brittany Treviño was hit by a pitch. The Lady Eagles were no-hit by the Beaverette hurler.

It was a 4-0 game after one inning and the Falls City bats got three more runs in the second inning. The visitors failed to score in the third as the Lady Eagles played some solid defense behind pitcher Kruger. It was a 9-0 game after the fourth as the Falls City girls had two runners cross home plate. A six-run explosion in the fifth allowed the visitors to coast to the 15-0 victory.

The Lady Eagles will visit Woodsboro on Friday for a 6 p.m. contest. The Pettus girls will play host to Three Rivers on Tuesday night.
