CORPUS CHRISTI – The Caller-Times recently announced its All-South Texas basketball team honors and two local athletes were selected. Also, three Bee County players were selected by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) for honors.

Lady Trojan Victoria Elizalde was selected to the girls’ first team. The Beeville scoring machine averaged almost 20 points a game and played a well-rounded game for head coach Katina Walker.

Elizalde also produced 6.4 rebounds a game along with 4.5 steals and 4.4 assists per contest. Elizalde led the Lady Trojans to the Region IV quarterfinals this year, Beeville’s first trip to the postseason since 2007. She was also an All-Region selection by the TABC.

Skidmore-Tynan wing man Eric Schumacher was named to the boys’ All-South Texas second team.

Schumacher could be counted on almost every game for double figure points and rebounds. He spearheaded the Bobcat offense and defense. He was a unanimous choice as District 31-2A MVP and was also a TABC all-state pick for his fine season under head coach Adam Wollam.

Pettus Eagle forward Eric Montez was named to the All-Region TABC team for 1A schools. Montez anchored the front line for the Eagles under first year Eagle coach Tony Ferguson.
