Pawnee Redwings claim tourney title trophy

NORDHEIM — The Pawnee Redwing volleyball team competed in the Nordheim Junior High or Middle School Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 6, and worked their way into the title match, coming home to Pawnee with the big trophy.

In their first match, they went up against the Pettus Eagles. The Redwings won the first set 25-10. Pettus then won the second set, 20-25, to set up a deciding third set.

The Redwings won the last set 25-17 to advance the Redwings to the championship round.

In the final title round, the Redwings played the Nordheim Pirates. The first set went to the Redwings 25-10, but the young Lady Pirates captured the second set 25-11.

The Redwings came back with the big win, taking the third set by the score of 25-23.

The coaches expressed their excitement and pride in the win, “Congratulations goes to the girls. They did a great job.”
