Jeffrey Allen Reyna, 21, turned himself into authorities after police made attempts to locate him at his home on Helena Street.
Police left a message with Reyna’s mother letting her know that the authorities would contact the media unless he turned himself in as soon as possible.
Reyna turned himself in to police less than two hours later, according to Karnes City Police Chief Eddie Salas.
Reyna was arrested and booked in to the county jail.
Bond was set at $750,000 for the murder charge and $250,000 for the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for a total of $1 million.
Reyna was released after posting bond the next day, Sept. 4.
On Aug. 25, a bartender called police reporting a fight at Bar Tonic, located at the intersection of Calvert and S. Market Streets.
When officers arrived, Jesus Jimmy Garcia, 29, of Corpus Christi was lying on the floor the apparent victim of a stabbing.
Police said the two men got into an argument that escalated into a fight and stabbing.
Garcia was transported by EMS to Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Garcia was reportedly originally from Three Rivers.
