A Karnes City man was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on Sept. 3. in connection with a Aug. 25 homicide at Bar Tonic, a Karnes City bar.

Jeffrey Allen Reyna, 21, turned himself into authorities after police made attempts to locate him at his home on Helena Street.

Police left a message with Reyna’s mother letting her know that the authorities would contact the media unless he turned himself in as soon as possible.

Reyna turned himself in to police less than two hours later, according to Karnes City Police Chief Eddie Salas.

Reyna was arrested and booked in to the county jail.

Bond was set at $750,000 for the murder charge and $250,000 for the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, for a total of $1 million.

Reyna was released after posting bond the next day, Sept. 4.

On Aug. 25, a bartender called police reporting a fight at Bar Tonic, located at the intersection of Calvert and S. Market Streets.

When officers arrived, Jesus Jimmy Garcia, 29, of Corpus Christi was lying on the floor the apparent victim of a stabbing.

Police said the two men got into an argument that escalated into a fight and stabbing.

Garcia was transported by EMS to Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Garcia was reportedly originally from Three Rivers.

For you to be ok with walking out of jail knowing the horrible crime you committed shows the lack of remorse! Not that being sorry will bring him back, but you obviously no regrets. Any real man of course would not have pulled a knife in the first place and a real man would have never left the bar that night and took responsibility for his actions. You took away 3 kid's father and woman's husband for stupidity and they are the one's suffering now. Your not even worth the newspaper space they printed your face on. Jimmy Garcia was a real man, father, & husband. You have no idea or care in the world about what you have done.

So this guy post bail faster than it took authorities to lock him up?? And because they threaten with the media he turns himself in? What is going on here? Something seems a Lil fishy here. I hope that the Judicial system does not fail allow this guy back on the street after he murdered a MAN with 3 children and a family. He deserves to pay the price for his action.
