Your Karnes City Chamber of Commerce is proud and happy to welcome Wet Tech Energy, Inc. with a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony last Thursday, Sept. 6. They have done an admirable job of remodeling a house they purchased at 611 S. Hwy 181 in Karnes City. Liz and Todd Carl, the operations managers, along with their crew were very cordial to the chamber board members and myself who took part in the celebration. And, it you were not aware before, their corporate headquarters is located in Milton, Louisiana. Shortly before we participated with them in this event, many of them had to report back to Louisiana because of Hurricane Isaac. We were glad to hear that their area fared okay during the storm. So, Thursday’s event was able to take place among a happy setting.

It was interesting to see some of the equipment that the company provides to make those who work in the oil and gas industry much safer, as in safety sun and regular glasses, fire retardant clothing such as safety vests, helmets, boots and other protection items. They also offer safety consulting and training, site inspections, drug testing, incident investigations, case management and much more along the lines of safety first, hazard prevention.

And to top all of that, those who were there were treated to a wonderful array of coffee, sodas, water and sweet goodies. Also, we were invited back to have a genuine Louisiana lunch consisting of Jambalaya, boudin, and more goodies. Wow! Talk about hospitality, we took part in it with gusto and want everyone to know about this new Karnes City company and to stop by to welcome them to our area. Most of all, remember that they are working here to keep all of us safer.

Just an extra note: we will have another Grand Opening-Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Friday Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at Rick Jordan’s Triune Financial Office at 113 E. Calvert Avenue. It will follow right after the 2nd Friday Breakfast at his office.

‘Til next time, Cathy.
