The Runge Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9189 met Tuesday, Aug. 28, in the auxiliary room at the VFW. President Darla Stewart called the meeting to order. The prayer was given by Meta Sparks. Secretary Joyce Janssen read the minutes of the July meeting, and Georgia Zowarka gave the treasurer's report. With no old business, the ladies discussed new business. The Ladies Auxiliary made donations to MD Anderson in memory of two recently deceased members. They also bought 2 sheets of raffle tickets which benefits cancer aid and research; this is an important program because cancer affects many of us directly and indirectly and increasing research assistance may increase the cancer survival rate. In addition, they voted to donate 50 cents per member to the Hospital Program, one of the oldest programs for the Ladies Auxiliary.

Although this was a regular meeting, the ladies were visited by District 24 President Barbara Hartman. She told about her auxiliary and helped with the organization of our group. Her advice and guidance was much needed and appreciated by all.

Following closing of the meeting, all members enjoyed refreshments and visiting.

The next regular meeting of the Runge Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Sept. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Runge VFW.
