KENEDY – Police were called to an alley near the intersection of Runge Street and Live Oak Street in Kenedy Friday morning, August 24, at about 11:52 a.m. after receiving a report of an individual who had passed out near the edge of the roadway.

Karnes County EMS was dispatched to the scene and emergency responders determined that the man identified as Kenedy Resident Cristobal Medrano, 58, was deceased.

The cause of death remains unknown although an autopsy was performed on Saturday, according to Kenedy Police Chief Duane DuBose.

Police received information that the man may have had a medical history of seizures.

Toxicology and other test results may take weeks to obtain, DuBose explained. Police do not believe foul play was a factor related to the man’s death.

Medrano was a former Kenedy resident who had recently moved back to Kenedy, police said.
