The Refugio Bobcats season came to an end Tuesday night as the Cats fell to Industrial 70-55. The Bobcats fought hard all night but foul trouble and Industrial’s height advantage were too much for the Bobcats to overcome. The first quarter was full of fast paced action with both teams trading baskets. At the end of the quarter, the Bobcats led 11-10.

The second quarter was dominated by the Cobras as they outscored the Bobcats by ten points. Free throws were the key as Industrial converted on 9 out of 11 free throws in the quarter. The Cobras led 31-22 at halftime.

The third quarter was an offensive quarter with both teams hitting several baskets. The Bobcats were able to cut the lead to 6 but the quarter ended with both teams scoring 17 points apiece, making the score 48-39 in favor of Industrial at the end of the third.

Industrial put the game away in the fourth outscoring the bobcats 23-14.

Once again foul trouble hurt the Bobcats as three starters fouled out in the quarter. Industrial converted on 15 of 19 free throws to seal the win.

The Bobcats were lead by Dylan Myers who scored 19 points. Irvin Fox scored 14, Marquis Brown scored 8, Cory Brown scored 4, Aaron Perez scored 3, Matt Mascorro scored 2, Brent Williams scored 2 and Tanner Myers scored 1. Fox lead the team with 14 rebounds. M. Brown had 4 assists. Defensive standouts were Cory Brown and Brent Williams.

Head Coach Joe Rios was proud of his team stating, “We gave it all we had. Their height gave us problems. It affected our shots and also got us in foul trouble. They are a real good team and they played better than us tonight.”

Coach Rios wanted to thank all the parents and fans for their support throughout the season.
