GOLIAD COUNTY – A 27-year-old La Joya man was transported to Victoria's DeTar Hospital after he rear-ended an 18-wheeler with his Ford F-150 pickup Friday afternoon on State Highway 183, approximately nine miles north of Goliad.

Diego Gonzalez was also cited for an expired license and failure to control speed in the crash that occurred at about 1:25 p.m.

The 18-wheel tank truck owned by Inland Transport was being operated by Morris Alliphin of Odem. He did not suffer any injuries.

According to the DPS report, the 18-wheeler had stopped in the southbound lane after being instructed to do so by a flagman at an intersection near the site where oilfield pipe is being laid.

Traffic was detoured on State Highway 183 for almost an hour.
