“My lifelong dream has been answered,” said Beeville wildlife photographer Sylvia Garcia-Smith this week.

She had just been notified that some of her photos would be appearing in the August/September 2012 edition of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine.

The three bird photos were all taken on the Bee County ranch owned by Bernie and Cindy Seger during the 2010/2011 Coastal Bend Wildlife Photo contest.

Probably the best of the three photos was a stunning shot of a barn owl flying straight at the photographer.

The other photos were of a Green Kingfisher perched on a branch and a Snowy Egret wading in its favorite habitat in search of a fish dinner.

“The barn owl also will be shown at the Beeville Art Museum during the month of August,” Smith said.

The photo will be part of the museum’s Texas Artist Exhibit from Aug. 4-25. A photo of a “Texas Night” star field also will be on display.

That second photo won fourth place in the Coastal Bend College Art Exhibit last October.

“I’m so blessed,” Smith said. “And very humbled.”
