Mourners pay tribute to 15 people who died in a truck crash on U.S. Highway 59
Two small fans did little to relieve the heat inside the restaurant, which does not have air conditioning. Mourners began arriving at 12:30 p.m. for the 1:30 p.m. service.
Most of those in attendance made the short trip north on U.S. Highway 59 to the crash site in a procession of vehicles led by Goliad County Sheriff's Office personnel. Clergymen at the site led a brief service at the crash scene as spectators paid their final respects.
