RUNGE – Organizers of the Runge Independence Day Celebration are planning a car show, parade and fireworks to celebrate the annual event in Runge this Saturday, June 30.

The car show gets underway at 3 p.m. at the Runge City Park located near the intersection of Helena Street (FM 81) and W. Guadalupe Street in the heart of downtown Runge.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. And will travel south along Helena Street (FM 81) through downtown Runge.

The fireworks show is set to blast off at 9:15 p.m. behind the Runge VFW Hall located on E. Aransas Street about a quarter mile east of the intersection of Aransas Street and Helena Street (FM 81).

Admission to all events is free and open to the general public and all are welcome to attend.

Sponsors this year for the event organized by the Runge Chamber of Commerce are Pioneer Natural Resources, Alexander Ford, Talisman Energy USA, Milton and Sandra Slaughter, the Runge Chamber of Commerce, HEB and the City of Runge.
