OKMH Auxiliary offering scholarship to Karnes seniors

The Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital Auxiliary held its’ monthly business meeting on Thursday, Apr. 5, with 11 members present. President Emma Villanueva called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. in the Hospital Board Room. Minutes of the previous month’s meeting were read and monthly reports were presented by officers as well as standing and appointed committee members.

Raffle tickets are available for the ‘Winnie the Pooh’ crib quilt on display in the gift shop. This quilt was donated by member Frances Kempe. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. Drawing will be held during Bluebonnet Days celebration, you need not be present to win. Come by and take a look and take a “chance” or ask any auxiliary member for a ticket. All proceeds will directly benefit the Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital.

New merchandise continues to arrive at the gift shop. With Mother’s Day and graduations to celebrate in the near future, it’s a wonderful place to do your shopping.

Attention graduating seniors! The OKMH Auxiliary is awarding a $400 scholarship to a graduating senior in each of 4 area high schools (Kenedy, Karnes City, Runge and Falls City) who may be interested in pursuing further education and a career in any health care related field. Please contact your school counselor for specifics in applying for this scholarship. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible, no later than May 1. Awards will be given in early May.

Our next business meeting will be Thursday, May 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the Hospital Board Room.
