J. E. “Dub” Walker Sr., 88, died Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.

Mr. Walker was born March 12, 1923, in Hungerford to Benjamin Franklin and Emelie Clemence (Buchman) Walker. He served in the U.S. Navy and married Mary Louise Curbello on June 16, 1950, in Beeville. He was a truck driver for Southern Pacific Transportation for 31 years and eight months. He was a member of Teamster Union and enjoyed fixing cars traveling and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Curbello Walker of Corpus Christi; four children, Bobby Walker of Arlington, Susan (George) Edwards of Corpus Christi, Rachel (Pat) Harris of Robstown and Jake (Barb) Walker Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Galloway & Sons chapel.

The funeral service was conducted there at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore.

Pallbearers were his grandson Charlie Harris, Russ Harris, Justin Walker, Heath Bailey, Mike Auzenne and Cody Thibodeaux.
