County hit by brush fires

Live Oak County firefighters had their hands full with brush fires Monday. At 12:51 p.m., the Three Rivers Fire Department was called to a fire in the median of U.S. 281 just south of Love’s Truck Stop. Above, Three Rivers Police Department officer Clinton Davis directs traffic while TRFD member Sonny Johnson puts water on the flames from a truck driven by Steve Brosig. Later, George West and Lagarto fire departments were called out for six fires along U.S. 281 south of George West. Firefighters from Jim Wells County were also called in to assist. Late Monday afternoon, another fire broke out near Swinney Switch.
