“All of our athletes performed well. We are working very hard and looking forward to the regional meet,” said track coach Erica Garza.
The area meet was in Woodsboro last Tuesday and among the girls, the Lady Eagles qualified in seven events.
Chloe Garza captured the area crown in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.58. She was also first in the 300-meter hurdles in 48.29. In the field events, Garza placed second in the long jump at 15-10 and was third in the triple jump, hitting 32-09.
Savannah Delbosque placed second in the 3,200-meter run to advance to region. Delbosque also will compete at the Region IV meet at Converse Judson in the 1,600-meter run as she placed third at area in 6:02.
Tristian Moore also will be making the trip, thanks to a second place finish in the 400-meter dash with her time of 1:04.79.
On the boys’ side of the area meet, Eagle Hunter Tomlin placed second in both the long jump (21-3) and triple jump (42-4) to advance to region. Casey Jones placed fourth in the 100-meter in 11.31 and will be an alternate in the event.
Jones placed first in the 400-meter run with a time of 52.06. Teammate Dominque Robards also qualified for region in the same event with his second place finish in 52.73.
Silvestre Sanchez placed fourth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:56 to make the trip to Converse. He also placed fifth in the tough 3,200-meter run, clocking 11:07.61.
The Eagle 4x400-meter relay team of John Constante, Robards, Tomlin and Jones won the area event in a fast 3:34 to advance to the meet at Judson on May 2-3.
