Amanda Eckols, a junior at Kenedy High School, placed second at the

State Competition sponsored by the THSWPA Texas High School Women’s

Powerlifing Association in Corpus Christi on March 19, 2011.

On March 5, Amanda competed at the Region 5 Powerlifing Regional Meet in Calallen and qualified for the state meet.

At the THSWPA High School Women’s Powerlifing State Meet, Amanda lifted 270 lbs on the squat and moved up in ranking, lifting 160 lbs. on the bench press. Amanda moved into second place with a Dead Lift of 320 lbs and a total for the day of 750 lbs. edging out competitors from

Wellman-Union, Louise, Santo, Maud, and Cumby in the 1A 148 lb division.

Amanda Eckols, along with Camrone Ruiz, a sophmore, will be competing at the USA High School National Powerlifing Championship March 25-27 in Corpus Christi.

Eckols and Ruiz are coached by Stephen Hajovsky.
