Charleen Frieda Paasch, 83, of San Antonio, died Friday, April 4, 2014, in New Braunfels.

Ms. Paasch was born Dec. 9, 1930, in San Antonio to Charles F. and Frieda Haverlah Paasch Anderson. She graduated from Kenedy High School on May 21, 1948. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in Education, and a masters of arts degree in education from the University of Texas in San Antonio. She taught in the New Braunfels Independent School District, Randolph Field Independent School District and Spring Branch and Deer Park Independent School Districts.

Beginning in Jan. 2, 1962, Ms. Paasch began work for the IBM Corporation, South Texas office in San Antonio as a programmer, then moved into the Sales Marketing Department. For seven months while working as a programmer in the New York office, she assisted the Department of the Army and the Air Force in formulating systems specifications and programming for the mechanized systems installed at Exchange Field installations in the Continental United States. She retired from IBM in 1987. She enjoyed playing tennis and traveling both in the United States and abroad.

Survivors include her sister, Noreen Paasch Sippel of New Braunfels; and nephew, Walter J. Sippel III.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Franz Oscar Anderson; and brother-in-law, Walter Sippel Jr.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City, followed by interment in the Kenedy City Cemetery. Pastor David Collins III officiated.

Pallbearers were Walter Sippel, Jason Sippel, Mike Stolte, John Benham, Harry Tyrrasch and Chris Dinklage.

Funeral services were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home.
