Caring for your heart is important. Most are familiar with cardiologists and blood pressure. One knows plaque builds up in arties and too much cholesterol can kill. But does one ever think about the condition of their soul? Ancient belief held the "heart" was the center of what makes humans, human. The core, the heart, is where one connects to God. Caring for the heart is how one protects their relationship with God. The heart is where one communes with Him. It is where one hears His voice. Most of the people who have never heard God speak to them are the same folks who live far from their hearts.

Ashe Wednesday is March 5. It marks the beginning of the 40 days of Lent. This is a time to check the condition of your heart, to be brutally honest with yourselves and with God. Some have heard it said that confession is good for the soul. Most know it to be true. Take the time the season of Lent to care for the most important relationship you will ever have, the connection between you and God. Ash Wednesday services at the United Methodist Church, Karnes City-Kenedy are March 5: Taize Prayer is at 5:30 p.m. and Traditional is at 7 p.m. Both will have impositions of ashes. All are welcomed to come.

Check out the web site at, Sunday worship is at 11 a.m. The church is located at 201 N Esplanade in Karnes City. Shalom.
