The Karnes City Craft Club met Thursday, Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City. There were 14 members present. President Shirley Frazier opened the meeting with the group citing the Lord’s Prayer and the pledge to the American flag. Secretary Orlis Jonas called the roll and read the minutes of the prior meeting. Members answered roll naming their favorite Christmas gift. Myra Patton presented the treasurer’s report and also told the group some interesting points of her trip to Europe. The birthday song was sung to celebrate members Patsy Whitehead, Melanie Johnson, and Shirley Palitza.

The 2014 dues were paid and new year books made by Beth Davis were distributed. The club was pleased to have Beth Davis and Debbie Gordon from San Antonio with them at this meeting. Beth volunteered to present the September craft this year. There was a motion made and passed to reimburse Beth for the cost of the year books. Pat Bomba visited the meeting and indicated that she would like to join. Happy news was received that Vickie and Bob Thonhoff are doing well.

The hostesses for the month were Laura Gamez, Alice Poore, and Melanie Johnson. The hostess gift was won by Beverly Henke and the door prize by Orlis Jonas. Shirley Frazier presented the craft for the month. Members were showed how to decorate a tin can to make it a pencil or other items holder. The can was covered with a burlap material and then decorated with rick-rack and ribbons. When finished with the craft, the group enjoyed refreshments and fellowship.

The next meeting will be Feb. 13 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City at 2 p.m. Hostesses will be Pat Hemby, Joan Smith, and Myra Patton.
