Gifted/Talented nominations at Kenedy ISD

The nomination period for Gifted/Talented for K-12 identification for Kenedy Independent School District will be from Monday, Jan. 20 through Friday, Jan. 31.

The Kenedy ISD Gifted/Talented Program serves children in grades K-12 in the four core curriculum areas: language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Some characteristics commonly associated with Giftedness include:

Problem-solving ability-quick to see solutions, possibilities.

Curiosity-exhibits unusual and sustained interest in the unknown/unfamiliar.

Sensitivity-feels deeply for others-often sensitive to criticism.

Originality-thinks of unique ways to express ideas.

Persistence-shows strong determination, will, stubbornness

Energy-works or plays in areas of interest without tiring for long periods.

Enthusiasm-enjoys challenges-thrives on complexity.

Students, their parents, and school personnel may nominate students for the Gifted/Talented program. Parents who wish to nominate their child to be considered for the G/T program, need to pick up a nomination and consent for testing form at the office of their child’s school.
