The local American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life Volunteers and Staff would like to offer a huge thank you to the staff and leadership of the Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital which hosted Karnes County’s (now annual) “American Cancer Society, Great American Smokeout Rally.”

This event, which was open to the public at large, was a chance for a sharing of resource materials with one common theme… the effects of smoking on the body. Specifically invited were our local cancer Survivors and their Caregivers. As members of a group that is way too familiar with the cancer battle, these folks were greatly encouraged to take part in this lifesaving messaging campaign.

At the rally all were able to enjoy –through the generosity of the Hospital, our local Wal-Mart, and our local HEB- sandwiches, cake and beverages, as well as a variety of Society literature that helped spread the lifesaving message of smoking cessation. Also available was the chance to learn about (and sign up for) the 2014 American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Karnes County - not to mention the chance to win several door prizes.

Again, we offer our sincerest thanks to our local Hospital and merchants for all they did to ensure a good time was had by all.
