passed away peacefully on November 09, 2013 with loved ones at his side. He was born October 04, 1925 in Karnes City, Texas to William and Regina Prukop Bodden. He graduated from Karnes City High School and served in the U. S. MERCHANT MARINE during World War II. After the War, he returned to Karnes City where he married Irene Henke on April 14, 1951. He joined the workforce of United Gas Pipeline Company, and retired from the energy industry after 35 years in 1986. He became a licensed real estate broker, managing properties until the time of his death. Charlie was especially proud of his work with both the cub scouts and boy scouts, and the fact that all of his seven grandsons, with the guidance of their fathers, attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was active in learning about and educating families about mental illnesses and developing coping skills. During this period of his life, he participated in the development of a 24 unit housing complex to help the mentally ill live independently. Charlie is survived by his wife , Irene; two daughters, Susan Bodden of Houston and Charlene Pesek and husband Larry of Raleigh North Carolina; three sons, David of Ft. Worth, Charles, Jr. and wife Dale, and William H. Bodden of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Eric, Danny, Keith, Ryan, Regina and Maria Pesek; Christopher and Meredith Bodden; Andrew and David Bodden. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Margaret, and brothers Adam and William Bodden. A visitation will be held on November 15 starting at 5:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 pm at the Rhodes Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass the following day at 11:00 am at St. Cornelius Catholic church where Charlie and Irene were married 62 years ago. We will miss his sunny personality, dedication to family, and those in need.
