Viola “Vi” Ckodre Wehman, 92, died Oct. 21, 2013, in Kenedy.

She was born April 8, 1921 in DeWitt County to George W. Sickenious and Mary (Stepler) Sickenious. She grew up on the family farm near Helena and went to school at the old Ruckman school. She was married to Weldon “Doc” Ckodre for twenty-four years until his death in 1960. After “Doc” passed away she married Roger Wehman in Karnes City on June 1, 1963. She was a homemaker all her life except for a few years that she worked at City Pharmacy. She loved to sew, bake, quilt, and garden. She was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City where she was active in many organizations including the Craft Club; the Garden Club; and a very active member of the Farm Bureau.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Roger Wehman; son, Erwin Ckodre (Mary) of Gonzales; grandchildren, Clay Ckodre, Carolyn Ckodre, Kimara Wilson, Cheryl Green, Jana Gossett, Natalan Mayer, Chris Janssen, Rhonda Ckodre, Chandra Davis, Ron Ckodre, 19 great-grand children, and three great, great, grandchildren; one sister, Susie Yanta of Karnes City, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband “Doc” Ckodre; daughter, Joyce Janssen; son Ronnie Ckodre; and grand daughter, Andrea Ckodre; two brothers, George Sickenious, Jr., Fred Sickenious, and four sisters, Alma DuBose, Laura Zimmerman, Nora Schultz and Maddie Woodall.

Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Rhodes Funeral Home, Karnes City.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Karnes City.

Interment followed in the Karnes City Cemetery. Pallbearers were all great-grandsons: Benjamin Gossett, Stuart Green, Johnathan Mayer, Cullen Ckodre, Camden Wilson, Corbin Ckodre, Brevin Wilson, Clayborne Janssen, and Bennett Janssen.
