Of special note, Vice President Margie Pierce gave a report of the Texas Association of Healthcare Volunteers District 8 meeting that was attended by 4 auxiliary members. The District 8 meeting was held in San Antonio at the Old San Francisco Steakhouse on Sept. 19. Attendees especially enjoyed the several presentations by guest speakers as well as meeting and sharing information with members from other auxiliaries within the district.
Be sure to come by the auxiliary booth during Market Days on Oct. 19. Christmas items from the gift shop and homemade goodies will be available. And the new lap quilt to be raffled will be on display with tickets available. The quilt is approximately 55” x 65” and features a variety of colorful embroidered butterflies and flowers. Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. The drawing will be held in November during the upcoming Tamale Sale.
The auxiliary welcomed the newest member, Maxine Galloway.
By the way, did you know…The OKMH Auxiliary is celebrating its’ 40th year of service to the hospital and community? It was first organized in 1973 and they are looking forward to many more years. With plans progressing for the new Wellness Center and expansion of services and facilities, they are anticipating an expansion in the auxiliary’s role of support too. This invitation is for gentlemen, as well as ladies. If you are looking for a worthwhile place to share your time and talents in support of your community, please come visit one of the monthly meetings or contact an auxiliary member to see if they are the right place for you. (And, no, gentlemen…you don’t have to wear pink!)
The next business meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9:30 a.m. in the Hospital Board Room.
