Dickson “Dicky” Ruckman Richardson, age 63, of Karnes City, Texas passed away on August 7, 2013. He was a 10th generation American and 6th generation Texan, born on May 26, 1950 in Beeville, Texas to Robert “Bobby” Patton Richardson and Shirley Dickson Ruckman Richardson. Dicky Richardson and Elaine Mazinke were married on September 11, 1978 in Karnes City, Texas.

He retired in 2007 from the Texas Animal Health Commission after 28 years of service, and then worked for the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory at Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Ranch Sorting National Championships, American Paint Horse Association, and a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Dicky was an avid horseman. As a youth he participated in 4-H horse club shows, and he continued his love for working cow horses by working cattle, roping, team penning, and ranch sorting.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Mazinke Richardson of Karnes City; daughters Anna Louise Richardson of Fulshear and Dena Marie Richardson of San Antonio; brother Robert “Robby” Patton Richardson, Jr. of Kenedy; cousin Bobbie Louise Lovett of McAllen; his babies: Dixie, Cene, Pep, Pearl, Bo and Kelp; and his horses. Dicky is preceded in death by his parents.

A service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2013, with visitation on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City. A private, family ceremony will be held at the U Ruckman Ranch at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dicky's memory to the Karnes City Public Library or any Pet Adoption Agency of your choice.
