This year Major Show Steer Validation will be on Wednesday, June 19 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Karnes City Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Cook Patton has again donated his time and facilities for this process. As with last year, we will nose print, tag, tattoo and collect DNA information.

Important: You must order your tags from the extension office. The cost of the tag will be $10/tag and you must pay for the tags when you place your order. We will not accept an order without your money. Also, the money for the tags is non-refundable. We are sorry to do this, but we have to cover the cost of ordering tags that are not used. We will still order a few extra tags to cover our projected needs. You must order and pay for tags through the Extension office and make checks payable to: Karnes 4-H Club Fund. You must order through the Extension office because we are in charge of ordering Validation Tags for the entire county.

The exhibitor does not have to be present at validation, but a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the paperwork. All steers must be validated on June 19 unless a major emergency arises. Dr. Patton can possibly re-schedule a date at the clinic if a major emergency arises for you on June 19.

Please call the extension office at 780-3906 if you have any questions.
