As American citizens, we can do nothing more important than pray for our nation. To echo the words of Mary Washington, mother of our nation’s first president, it is time to “remember that God is our only sure trust.” Through prayer, we have an unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest.

On May 2, millions of Americans will gather at National Day of Prayer events across the nation. The 2013 theme for the 62nd annual observance of this day is “Pray for America”, based on the scripture reference, “In His name the nations will put their hope." (Matthew 12:21)

Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the Karnes County National Day of Prayer Service, which will be held in the Kenedy High School Gym, Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. The event will include a brief message, prayer led by members of the community and special music presented by several area churches.
