On Feb. 15 at 6:55 a.m. my bus was hit by a gray Ford-150 after it, for some unexplained reason, crossed over the line, colliding with an 18 wheeler first, then hitting my bus, a 2006 Bluebird Bus, causing us to come to a complete stop on Hwy 80, just south of the intersection of Hwy 80 and Hwy 81.
I know that this is not new information now but I wanted to take the time to say thank you to all who helped with the care of myself and my students. To DPS Trooper Steve Bailey, thank you for your very needed help, for getting there so fast and for investigating the wreck. Thank you to Charlie Malik, for his fast Rescue 1 response and his much needed help. To Jeanette Winn for her thoughtfulness in her caring about me and my children. Yes, that is right they are my children on or off the bus. I care for them so much as if they were my own. Thank you to EMS for being so helpful, taking me to the hospital. Also to Otto Kaiser Memorial Hospital for taking care of the children and their needs. Thank God that there were only minor injuries. And to all of those that helped out that I have failed to name, please forgive me.
It is just like Trooper Steve Bailey says “The oil and gas has been there for millions of years, another 10 minutes of taking our time will not hurt anyone.”
I pray that this will keep this from happening again.
